Teaching music

Emelie teaches violin and nyckelharpa, to adults aswell as kids, in different styles (scandinavian folk, celtic, classical, modern). Her main idea is to build bridges between different abilities and knowledges to make the learning process feel comfortable at every step. Nyckelharpa and violin being both demanding instruments for the body, Emelie focuses a lot on building a relaxed position and effective movements. Her very speciality is bowing technique and how to make it feel natural. She gladly adapts the content of her lessons to the wishes of her students, especially in terms of repertoire.

Private and duo lessons : 50 € / 500 SEK / 60 CHF per hour (reduced : 40 / 400 / 50 respectively)
Workshops (minimum 3 people) : please contact
Teaching in Sweden, region Uppsala and for short periods in Switzerland, Germany, France and the Netherlands.
Note that you need to bring your own instrument for the lessons, no violin nor nyckelharpa to rent.

Ideas for workshops : bowing technique, swedish repertoire (diverse regions : western Dalarna, Hälsingland, Medelpad,  Sörmland, Värmland...), ornamentation in scandinavian folk music, how to play halling / schottis / swedish vals / polska / slängpolska, ensemble playing...

Playing for dance workshops

Emelie is also a musician for dance workshops. She knows how to give energy to the dancers and is able to play some parts very slowly or on repeat. Swedish and norwegian tunes are her main repertoire but she can also play for general balfolk dances and for swiss, french and breton dances. Don't hesitate to ask if you need a live musician for your dance workshop !

Teaching folk dances

Educated in Eric Sahlström Institute and Malungs folkhögskola, Emelie has been involved a lot in the swedish dance scene. She gladly teaches polska, slängpolska, halling, schottis, swedish vals, springar from Voss, swedish menuett and more. Using metaphors and exercises to connect many points of the dance, Emelie helps her dancing students to understand a dance through a rich and varied prism, not only focusing on steps. For most of her dance workshops, she will need a dance partner to show the steps (especially polska).
