Svall - Svall Duo - Svall Harps
During New Year 2017-2018, three musicians fascinated by scandinavian repertoires met in central France and started playing together. Sylvain Pool comes from Switzerland where his guitar and cittern have rocked Vieille Branche and Grand Balthazar, now installed nearby Toulouse (France), he's to be heard with Nøkkenoc amongst others. Sara Buffler, from the Vosges in north-eastern France, has studied folk music in Sweden at the same schools as Emelie... just not at the same time ! With her harp and her voice, she performs with many formations aswell as a lot in solo.
The first idea was of a trio... sadly the geographical limitations have not allowed this project to come to life, but two duos have emerged :
- Svall Harps is composed of Sara and Emelie and focuses on giving a genuine swedish traditional feeling with little stories and lots and lots of waltzes.
- Svall Duo is Emelie with Sylvain and likes to rearrange old scandinavian "folk tubes" with quite some improvisation every time and a lot of energy.
Both bands perform for concerts and balfolks and also offer workshops for scandinavian music and dances.

Knupia is the story of two bands becoming a family. It is Sweden, the Netherlands and Switzerland united in a common balfolk and scandinavian repertoire. KNEP is a folk duo from Switzerland which plays swedish traditional music as well as personal compositions. It's a lot of silly things, like octopuses on stage, carrots, unexpected instruments and costumes never seen on a dancefloor. It's a solution for how to survive in very cold conditions.
Emelie Waldken - nyckelharpa, fiddle, drawings, costumes
Pascal Rüegger - guitar, irish flute, percussions, recordings

TRAVELLING NYCKELHARPA
Let's put some wings and feet to a nyckelharpa and see how far they can lead it. From the legends of Bretagne to the long winter nights of Sweden, from the fantastic landscapes of the west-coast of Norway to the epic ones of Switzerland, and many more, music is a universal language... Crazy project of an album recorded in different places, different atmospheres, with different people, finally blended together in a poetic travel diary of a nyckelharpa and her adventurous player. [more infos to come]
